The Mother-Baby Nutrition Foundation is a 501c3 located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Our organization aims to provide direct services to women located in Knoxville, Tennessee as well as education to women across the united states.
Executive Director: Alex Gardner, MPH, RDN, LDN, CLC, CHES
Alex is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and Certified Health Education Specialist specializing in fertility, prenatal, and postpartum nutrition. She has a passion for walking along side families so that women can conceive, grow, and deliver a healthy baby without feeling overwhelmed. She is the founder and CEO of Alex Gardner Nutrition LLC, a nutrition practice that strives to help women during any stage of their perinatal journey. Alex was moved to start the Mother-Baby Nutrition Foundation during her time in her Master of Public Health program where the emphasis on social determinates of health was of top priority. She strives to help all mamas receive equitable access to perinatal nutrition services.

Leah is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist working as a WIC Dietitian in the rural community. Leah has a passion for public health, improving access to nutritious foods, and encouraging healthy relationships with food. In her free time, Leah loves to spend time with her family, gardening, and knitting.

Combining her experience with nonprofits with a passion for personal and professional development, Wendy Martin serves as an at-large director. With a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Education and Workforce Development and a Master’s degree in Transformational Leadership, she believes that all goals in life are driven by a personal desire for success. Driven by the impact eating disorders have had on loved ones in her life, she was inspired to join Alex Gardener’s Mother-Baby Nutrition Foundation to promote the development of healthy eating habits from infancy through adulthood. A firm believer that lifestyle change begins with education, she is dedicated to empowering women with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their goals, whether in career pursuits or by growing happy, healthy families.
Our immediate goal is to obtain funding in order to sponsor low income pregnant and postpartum women through the Mommy & Me Nutrition Care Program™. This signature program is 3 months long, fully virtual, and provides participants with intensive nutrition and lactation support to make healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes to improve the health of both the mother and the baby.
